What is Nutritional Therapy?

imageNutritional therapy is a complementary therapy that works with individuals to assess personal nutritional requirements based on factors such as age, diet, lifestyle, symptoms and health history. A nutritional therapist then works with you to develop a nutritional programme that suits you and your lifestyle.

Before your first consultation you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire, providing details of your diet, symptoms, health history and lifestyle, in order to enable an initial assessment of potential underlying issues. At the consultation, the therapist will gather additional information from you to answer any questions raised by the questionnaire and to ensure that all information provided has been fully understood. After discussion, the therapist will outline some of the possible factors likely to be influencing your health problems and will explain how nutritional treatment can help. At The Nutrition Link we work closely with the orthodox medical profession and refer clients to their doctor for medical tests if any areas for concern are identified during the consultation.

One or more diagnostic tests are also sometimes suggested, for example to identify any food sensitivities or to establish how well you are digesting your food.

Consultations take place at 156 Beech Road, St. Albans and at the Natural Health Store, Welwyn Garden City. It may also sometimes be possible for them to be held at other locations.

The first consultation will take approximately one hour to one and a quarter hours. A second consultation of about 30-40 minutes usually follows about four weeks later with further consultations as necessary. Ongoing support by telephone and e-mail is also provided.

Consultations are available from Monday to Saturday and evening appointments are also available.
