The term indigestion is commonly used to describe the pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen or chest that can develop after a meal. The main symptoms of indigestion include pain, loss of appetite, nausea, flatulence and burping. There are a number of causes of indigestion, including gut infections, food intolerances, excess or inadequate levels of stomach acid, ulcers, poor food choices, pharmaceutical drugs, structural problems, smoking, stress and anxiety. It is also important to rule out more serious underlying conditions and diseases. Using careful analysis of diet and health symptoms combined with diagnostic testing where appropriate we will help you to minimize symptoms enabling you to eat without discomfort.
Most of us will experience constipation at some time in our lives, but chronic constipation is no laughing matter as it can contribute to colon disease and other health problems. A healthy individual will have between one and three painless bowel movements daily but if you are constipated your bowel movements may be less frequent than this and may also be difficult to pass. You may also experience small, hard stools and / or have a feeling of incomplete evacuation. Constipation can have many causes ranging from inadequate dietary fibre, food intolerances, hormone imbalances, gut infections, lack of exercise, structural problems and low levels of digestive secretions. We will work with you to help identify and address the relevant contributory factors to help provide you with ongoing relief from constipation without the need for habit-forming laxatives
Candida is a fungal organism that resides in the mucous membranes of the throat, nails and vagina. It is found in nearly everyone and provided the body can keep it in check it does no harm. Unfortunately all too often the delicate balance of 'friendly' and 'unfriendly' organisms in the intestines is disrupted by antibiotics, artificial hormones, stress or poor food choices enabling candida to grow out of control. Candida colonies produce powerful toxins which are absorbed into the blood stream and affect our immune system, hormone balance, and thought processes. The symptoms of candida overgrowth are diverse and varied and include constipation or diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, fatigue, food and environmental sensitivities, headaches, depression, insomnia mood swings, fuzzy thinking, PMS, low blood sugar, recurring vaginal and bladder infections and ringing in the ears. Identification and treatment of candida is vital to provide relief from an array of symptoms and to help prevent the development of long term degenerative disease. Our treatment programmes are designed to reduce levels of candida in the body, boost levels of friendly bacteria, optimize digestion and to heal any associated gut damage. We will also aim to identify and address any underlying health issues which may have enabled candida to proliferate in the first place.

We all worry about things from time to time, but constant anxiety can be an extremely debilitating condition, sapping energy levels and putting a constant strain on the body. Some of us have a genetic predisposition to worry, while for others it may be linked to events that have happened in the past. Other factors such as nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar imbalances, food intolerances or stimulatory foods can also cause anxiety or aggravate an existing state of anxiety. We take a detailed history from all clients to help us identify what is at the root cause of the problem. To help us further we often use a simple saliva test which gives us vital information about the way in which an individual responds to stress. An appropriate dietary and supplementation programme can then be developed to address the specific individual imbalances and to bring the body back into balance.
If you're finding it increasingly difficult to maintain an even mood, then you might benefit from nutritional therapy. Identifying the most likely underlying causes will enable us to develop a tailored nutritional programme so that the your body obtains the right nutrients at the right times to help you feel calmer and more centered.
